British IPTV: UK Channels, 4K Sport & a £1 Trial | SmartVPro

British IPTV is internet television built around what people in the United Kingdom actually watch: BBC One to BBC Four, ITV and ITVX channels, Channel 4, Channel 5, Sky Sports, TNT Sports, Sky Cinema, Sky Atlantic, Dave, Gold and the regional news you get from a Freeview aerial, delivered through an app on your Fire TV Stick, Smart TV or phone. SmartVPro runs British IPTV on UK servers with UK-based support, from £10.99 a month with no contract and no auto-renewal, and you can test it for £1 before you commit.

What British IPTV means

Plenty of services call themselves “IPTV” but are built for the US or for a global audience, with UK channels buried in a list of 20,000 foreign stations and a guide that runs on Eastern Time. British IPTV is the opposite: a UK-first lineup, a programme guide in UK time, catch-up for BBC, ITV and Channel 4 shows, UK sport in full, and support that understands what “the Sky Sports Main Event feed” or “BT Sport Box Office” means. That is the service SmartVPro provides for the UK, and it is why our customers in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Leeds and Belfast stay with us.

Technically it is the same idea as Sky Glass, Virgin TV Go or BT TV: (the Wikipedia IPTV article explains the technology) television sent over your broadband instead of a dish or cable. The difference is that you use a cheap device you already own, pay month to month in pounds, and are not locked into an 18-month contract. If you want the background on the technology, our guide UK IPTV service explained covers it in plain English.

Why UK servers and UK support matter

Most British IPTV problems are not about the channels but about where the service is hosted and who answers when something breaks. Servers in the UK and nearby European data centres keep latency low, which is what you notice when a goal is celebrated on Twitter before it appears on your screen. SmartVPro streams from UK servers with CDN nodes across Europe, so a Saturday 3pm kick-off or a Sunday Grand Prix arrives with seconds of delay, not minutes, and 4K feeds stay stable during the busiest hours of the week.

Support works on UK hours and knows UK devices: Sky Glass and Sky Stream boxes, Fire TV Sticks from Amazon UK, Samsung and LG sets from Currys, Virgin Hub and BT Smart Hub routers. Ask us which app to use on a 2019 LG, or why TNT Sports is stuttering on a BT Smart Hub 2, and you get a useful answer in minutes on WhatsApp or email, not a template.

British IPTV prices

Prices are in pounds, with no contract and no automatic renewal. The 1-device plan is £10.99 for 1 month, £21.99 for 3 months, £29.99 for 6 months and £47.99 for 12 months, which works out at about £4 a month on the annual plan. Multi-device plans cover 2 to 4 screens at the same time. Every plan includes the same channels and the same 4K access; there are no add-ons for sport or film.

Plan (1 device)PricePer month
1 month£10.99£10.99
3 months£21.99£7.33
6 months£29.99£5.00
12 months£47.99£4.00

Compare that with £30 to £90 a month for a Sky or Virgin package with sport. Multi-device prices and payment options are on the IPTV UK plans page; our IPTV cost UK article breaks down the yearly savings.

Devices that work with British IPTV

You do not need a new TV or a box from us. British IPTV from SmartVPro runs on the Fire TV Stick (the most popular choice in the UK), Android TV and Google TV, Samsung and LG Smart TVs, Apple TV, iPhone and iPad, Android phones and tablets, Windows and Mac, and dedicated boxes such as Formuler and BuzzTV. Use TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro on Fire TV and Android, IBO Player or Smart IPTV on Samsung and LG, and IPTV Smarters on Apple devices.

Broadband speed for British IPTV

HD channels need about 8 to 10 Mbps per stream and 4K needs 25 to 35 Mbps. Any UK fibre or cable package from BT, Sky, Virgin Media, EE, TalkTalk, Vodafone or Plusnet is more than enough; the usual weak point is Wi-Fi. A Fire TV Stick behind two walls on the 2.4 GHz band will buffer during the Premier League no matter which provider you use. Use Ethernet where possible, or 5 GHz Wi-Fi close to the router, and read our IPTV buffering UK and internet speed for IPTV guides before blaming the service.

IPTV is a delivery method used by BT TV, Sky Stream and Virgin TV themselves, so the technology is legal in the UK. What matters is the provider: choose one with a real website, terms, a refund policy, a DMCA process and support you can reach, and avoid “fully loaded” sticks sold on Facebook Marketplace or in pub car parks. Our article Is IPTV legal in the UK? explains the law and the risks in detail, and the best IPTV providers UK guide shows how to judge any provider, including us.

How to start in five minutes

  1. Order the £1 24-hour trial. A person activates it and sends your login by WhatsApp or email.
  2. Install TiviMate, IPTV Smarters Pro or IBO Player on your device.
  3. Enter the server, username and password exactly as sent.
  4. Watch a live match in the evening, check BBC and ITV catch-up and your regional news.
  5. Choose a 1, 3, 6 or 12-month plan if you are happy; nothing renews automatically.

British IPTV for football, rugby, cricket and F1

Sport is the reason most UK households look at British IPTV.

The Premier League is split between Sky Sports and TNT Sports, the Champions League is on TNT, the FA Cup and England internationals move between BBC, ITV and Sky, test cricket is on Sky, the Six Nations is on BBC and ITV, and F1 is on Sky Sports F1 with Channel 4 highlights. Buying all of that from Sky and TNT directly costs £60 to £90 a month; British IPTV from SmartVPro includes every one of those channels in the same plan, plus Premier Sports for Scottish football and rugby, LaLiga TV, Eurosport and the main European and US sports networks for Serie A, Bundesliga, NFL and NBA.

Two tips for UK sport viewers: test the service during a Saturday 5.30pm or Sunday 4.30pm Premier League slot, because that is when both servers and home broadband are busiest, and use a wired connection on the main TV for 4K feeds. Catch-up means the Sunday morning Super Sunday review or the Saturday Match of the Day is there when you get in, and multi-screen in IPTV Smarters Pro lets you watch two 3pm kick-offs at once if your plan has two devices.

British IPTV outside England: Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland

British IPTV is not only London and Manchester. Scottish viewers get BBC Scotland, STV with its regional news, BBC Alba and Premier Sports for the Scottish Premiership; Welsh viewers get S4C, BBC One Wales and ITV Cymru Wales; Northern Ireland gets BBC One NI, UTV and the Irish channels RTÉ One, RTÉ2, Virgin Media One and TG4 for GAA and Irish news, which are hard to find on Freeview in Belfast. Expats and families with Irish roots in Liverpool, Glasgow or Birmingham use the same lineup for the same reason.

The guide shows the regional variant you choose, so you can set STV Glasgow or ITV Wales as your “ITV” and keep the local news you are used to. If a specific regional channel matters to you, check it during the £1 trial; our support team can confirm what is carried before you buy a year.

British IPTV abroad: Spain, Dubai, Australia and the rest of the world

A large part of our customer base is British but not in Britain: retirees on the Costa del Sol and the Algarve, families in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, expats in Australia, Canada and the US, and students on a year abroad. British IPTV solves the problem that BBC iPlayer and Sky Go either block foreign connections or need a VPN that keeps breaking: the same SmartVPro login works from any country with 10 Mbps of broadband, with the UK channels, UK guide and UK catch-up intact. For expats the on-demand library with UK subtitles is a bonus, and the International packages mean Spanish or Emirati housemates get their channels on the same plan.

Practical notes for abroad: a wired connection or 5 GHz Wi-Fi still matters, 4K needs 25 to 35 Mbps, and some hotel and compound networks block streaming ports, in which case our IPTV VPN guide explains the workaround. Support runs on UK hours but answers email overnight, so a question sent from Sydney in the evening is answered by UK morning.

What British IPTV customers ask us most

Will BBC and ITV catch-up work? Yes, seven-day catch-up on the main British channels in TiviMate and IPTV Smarters. Do I still need a TV licence? Watching live UK TV or BBC iPlayer in the UK requires a licence whatever the delivery method; that is between you and TV Licensing. Is there a reseller programme? Contact us through the contact page.

Can my parents use it on an older TV? Yes, with a £35 Fire TV Stick; we talk them through it on the phone-free WhatsApp chat. Does it work on Sky Glass or Sky Stream? Those boxes are locked to Sky; use a Fire TV Stick in the HDMI port instead. What if a channel is missing? Tell support during the trial; lineups change and we add UK channels on request where possible.

British IPTV is a simple thing done well: the channels you know, on the device you own, at a price in pounds you can cancel any month. Everything else on this page exists so you can check that for yourself for £1 before paying for a season.

Setting up British IPTV for the whole household

A typical UK home runs British IPTV on three screens: the living-room TV on a Fire TV Stick with TiviMate, a bedroom Samsung or LG on IBO Player, and a phone on IPTV Smarters for the commute. One SmartVPro login covers all of them; the plan sets how many play at once. Parents set a PIN on adult categories, grandparents get a simplified favourites list with BBC One, ITV1 and Sky News, and the sports fan gets Sky Sports and TNT in 4K on the main screen. Everything is installed once and updated automatically, and support helps each family member on their own device if needed.

A note on quality: HD, 4K and what “British IPTV in 4K” really means

British broadcasters air most channels in HD; 4K is limited to selected Sky Sports events, Sky Cinema titles and some documentaries. SmartVPro carries those feeds in true 2160p where the broadcaster provides them and does not relabel upscaled HD as 4K.

A 4K-capable Fire TV Stick, Apple TV 4K or recent Smart TV, a wired or 5 GHz connection of 25 to 35 Mbps and ExoPlayer or TiviMate with hardware decoding are all you need. For everything else, the HD feeds are the same bitrate as Freeview HD and Sky HD, which on a normal living-room screen is the difference nobody notices. If 4K matters to you, test a Sky Sports 4K match during the £1 trial on the exact TV you will use.
